Our prices vary depending on when and where you do the course. Please contact us for specific prices for the LTCL diploma. CertTESOL prices can be found in our dates/prices section. top
The CertTESOL courses runs from Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5.30pm. You will have a short coffee break in the morning and 1 hour for lunch. Although you will not be required to attend classes all day during weeks 3 and 4, trainees are expected to use this time to prepare for teaching practice and to complete assignments. All evenings and weekends are free. (TLI reserves the right to make changes to any published or advertised timetables) top
You will be asked to bring certain books with you. When you have completed your application form you will be sent a booklist. You should also bring stationary appropriate for an academic course (i.e, pens, pencils, paper etc.) Remember to check weather forecasts for clues about appropriate clothing. top
We do not guarantee to find you accommodation but we will help where possible to find you something suitable near the school. It is very difficult in the Summer time to find accommodation in Edinburgh so if you are doing a course at this time of year it's a good idea to book some thing early. top
The maximum number of trainees per course is 14 though some courses do have less than this. top
Tefl tesl and tesol are all abbreviations for basically the same thing. The terms "Teaching English as a foreign language" and "Teaching English as a second language" do, however, refer to teaching two distinct types of learner ie, TEFL refers to teaching nationals from countries where English has no official status (eg. Spain, Poland) and TESL refers to teaching nationals from countries where English has some status (eg. Nigeria, India and Zimbabwe). TESOL encompasses both terms and the basic methodology for all three is the same. In general the term "TEFL" is used generically to describe a range of very similar concepts. Tefl Certificate and Tefl Diploma are both used generically to describe the preliminary and advanced qualifications which can be held. top
Both Certificates offer a valid teaching qualification but the courses are different. We feel that the main advantage of the Trinity Certificate is that it covers all levels of teaching. When you are here you will be required to do teaching practice with adults, young children and teenagers with different standards of English. It is this practical experience at different levels which we feel makes the Trinity Course prepare you for teaching more effectively. top
If you have decided that you would like to do a course the first step is a short telephone interview. You will then be given specific enrolment information which includes an online registration process.top
Edinburgh is undoubtedly one of Britain's most beautiful and historic cities. The Castle, looking over the city centre represents only the tip of the iceberg in Scotland's capital. As well as plenty of sightseeing to keep you going for a month, Edinburgh has a bustling entertainment scene and a truly cosmopolitan atmosphere. The city is particularly student friendly due to a wealth of Colleges and Universities. top
